Children & Adolescents

We support children and adolescents navigating emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges that impact daily functioning, relationships, and learning. Care is developmentally informed and grounded in thoughtful psychiatric assessment, with treatment plans tailored to each child’s needs, stage of development, and family context.

Psychiatry (Evaluations & Medication Management)

We offer comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Services are provided virtually across Arizona and in person in Queen Creek with Ashleigh McDonnell, PMHNP-BC and in Phoenix with Kwesi Woode, PMHNP-BC.

Care is individualized, evidence-based, and paced thoughtfully, with an emphasis on ongoing monitoring and collaboration when appropriate.

Therapy

In-person therapy services for children and adolescents are offered at our Queen Creek location with Carley Millsap, LAC from Marley Mental Health . Carley receives clinical supervision from an independently licensed Arizona Board of Behavioral Health–approved supervisor with Marley Mental Health, and therapy services are billed under supervisory oversight by Ashleigh McDonnell, PMHNP-BC, in accordance with payer and regulatory requirements.

For clients seeking in-person therapy in Phoenix, we collaborate with Marley Mental Health through our Phoenix location to support access to therapy services.

When appropriate, virtual options for therapy may be offered.

Psychiatric and therapy services are provided separately but may be coordinated as part of collaborative care when appropriate.

Collaborative Care & Family Dynamics

Wild Ember Psychiatry & Therapy is not a court-mandated or forensic practice. We do not provide services related to custody evaluations, reunification therapy, parental fitness assessments, or court-ordered treatment.

We are also not able to work with families involved in active high-conflict divorce or custody disputes, including situations where treatment is being sought primarily to support legal proceedings, influence custody outcomes, or resolve parental conflict.

We are happy to work with families across a variety of co-parenting and family structures. Our role is to support the individual client’s mental health within a collaborative and respectful framework.

If at any point family dynamics become high conflict, or the practice is placed in the middle of parental disagreements, legal matters, or custody-related concerns, we will pause services and assist with referral to providers or services better suited to that level of family or legal involvement. This ensures care remains ethical, clinically appropriate, and focused on the wellbeing of the client.

Our services are designed to support individual mental health care in a therapeutic, collaborative environment. When family dynamics are highly conflicted or legally driven, this can interfere with the therapeutic process and is not aligned with the scope or purpose of our practice.

When appropriate, we are happy to assist with referrals to providers or services better suited to court-involved or high-conflict family situations.

Level of Care & Clinical Appropriateness

Wild Ember Psychiatry & Therapy provides outpatient mental health care. Certain clinical presentations may require a higher level of care or specialized services beyond what an outpatient setting can provide.

Clients presenting with severe eating disorders, violent or unsafe behaviors, active legal involvement, moderate to severe substance use concerns, need for detoxification, benzodiazepine dependence, or certain personality disorder presentations may not be appropriate for this level of care. When indicated, we assist with referrals to programs that specialize in these areas to ensure safety and appropriate support.
